The speech of the culture, the faith and the reason

...I had opportunity to read Pope's speech BenedictoXVI pronounced in Germany, in Ratisbona, that so many angers woke up, or that it took out them out, because they were waiting any opportunity to leave, of the minds confused by the fanaticism and the intolerance.
One more time the violence reaction in front of the freedom of speech.
This time, as another times, the gang fake to be offended by a word that doesn't sound them well, or for a look - "he looked at me bad" - and they threat with a stick.
It is curious that in these days of acceleration of the international insults, the stick gangs are moving from several ideological borders, excited themselves together by the perspective of accelerating the involution of all the orders of the culture of West.
Now it is read among words, and word by word, broken the line, outside of the context, no for to infer new conclusions or to contribute ideas on a thought, but to search and use the words as stones.
They are distrustful, presumptuous, arrogant but with no reason of culture; they don't understand the text and what the text says.
The concepts of Pope's speech speak by themselves, for who knows how to read and to understand. And the final paragraph is beautiful, profound and it give hope.

(/.../) Here I am reminded of something Socrates said to Phaedo. In their earlier conversations, many false philosophical opinions had been raised, and so Socrates says: "It would be easily understandable if someone became so annoyed at all these false notions that for the rest of his life he despised and mocked all talk about being - but in this way he would be deprived of the truth of existence and would suffer a great loss". The West has long been endangered by this aversion to the questions which underlie its rationality, and can only suffer great harm thereby. The courage to engage the whole breadth of reason, and not the denial of its grandeur - this is the programme with which a theology grounded in Biblical faith enters into the debates of our time. "Not to act reasonably, not to act with logos, is contrary to the nature of God", said Manuel II, according to his Christian understanding of God, in response to his Persian interlocutor. It is to this great logos, to this breadth of reason, that we invite our partners in the dialogue of cultures. To rediscover it constantly is the great task of the university.

El discurso de la cultura, la fe y la razón

Tuve oportunidad de leer el discurso del Papa Benedicto XVI pronunciado en Alemania, en Ratisbona, ese que tantas iras despertó, o que las sacó afuera, porque estaban esperando cualquier oportunidad para salir, de las mentes ofuscadas por el fanatismo y la intolerancia.
Otra vez la política del garrote frente a la libertad de expresión.
Esta vez, como los patoteros que fingen ofenderse por una palabra que no les suena bien, o por una mirada -"me miró mal"-y arremeten con un palo.
Es curioso que en estos días de aceleración de los insultos internacionales, los patoteros del garrote se sumen desde varios lindes ideológicos, excitados por la perspectiva de acelerar la involución de todos los órdenes de la cultura de Occidente.
Ahora se lee entre líneas, y palabra a palabra, rota la línea, fuera del contexto, no para inferir nuevas conclusiones o aportar ideas sobre un pensamiento, sino para localizar y utilizar como piedras a los vocablos. Se malentiende en forma taimada, presuntuosa, prepotente; se hace dejación de la comprensión de un texto.
Los conceptos del discurso del Papa hablan por sí solos, para quien sepa leer y entender.
Y el párrafo final es bello, además de profundo y esperanzador. Lo transcribo:

(/:::/) "Aquí recuerdo algo que Sócrates le dijo a Fedón. En los diálogos anteriores, se habían vertido muchas opiniones filosóficas falsas, y por eso Sócrates dice: "Sería muy comprensible si uno, por la irritación ante tantas cosas equivocadas, odiase y despreciase por el resto de su vida toda conversación sobre el ser. Pero de este modo perdería la verdad del ser y sufriría un enorme daño". Desde hace mucho tiempo, el occidente se ha visto amenazado por esta negación a las preguntas fundamentales de la razón y podría así infligirse un grave daño. Valor para ensanchar la razón, no renunciar a su grandiosidad ?ese es el programa con el que una teología comprometida con la fe bíblica entra en el debate de nuestro tiempo. "No actuar razonablemente, no actuar con el logos, es contrario a la naturaleza de Dios" dijo Manuel II, desde su entendimiento cristiano de Dios, a su interlocutor persa. Es a este gran logos, a esta amplitud de la razón, a la que invitamos a nuestros interlocutores en el diálogo de las culturas. Redescubrirla continuamente es la gran tarea de la Universidad."
